1973 USA vs.China Basketball - This is a historic game for both basketball and political reasons. As a result of the Richard Nixon led thaw in diplomatic relations between the USA and China, this athletic event was set up in Beijing. At the last minute, the Chinese Government allowed a TVS Television Network Crew to join the party and televise the game. The USA team is led by American college stars such as Alvan Adams, Lon Krueger, George Karl, Quinn Buckner, Kevin Grevey, Kevin Stacom, and Rich Kelley. All of these players went on to an NBA or an ABA pro career except for Krueger the current UNLV basketball coach who has been an outstanding college and NBA coach. Yao Ming wasn`t even a glint in his dads eye yet, but the Chinese National Team was pretty good. Dick Enberg calls the action for TVS, and this game hasn`t been seen in over 30 years since its originally airing. Great historic footage of China during the Mao regime.
